Cross Country Travel

A trip to remember, cross-country travel offers a vast array of possible experiences, too many to describe. The traveler can select the mode of transportation, lodging accommodations (a tent, camper, RV, hotel), route, and attractions or friends and family along the way. Depending on the starting point, the route should be determined by the time of year travel will begin and end. June would probably be a good month for cross-country travel, winter is over, spring rains have passed, and the smells of the earth abound!

First to consider would be the planned mode transportation and sleeping arrangements. If traveling by auto, there are quite a few options available. There's always camping with a tent! No seriously, there are resorts, spas, hotels and motels, bed and breakfasts, cabins, condos, and of course, homes of family and friends. Whatever you decide will greatly depend on your finances, and what you feel you can spend on the expedition. If taking a camper or RV, another dimension of camping can be added. Take everything you need, your food, pets, supplies, etc. Camping is an added adventure to experience all nature has to offer at various destinations across the country. It won't always be possible to have a lazy river or waterfall outside your bedroom window in a hotel.

Next the route of travel should be planned and points of interest or attractions noted on a travel log. There are two main interstates that cross the country, I-80 across the northern half, and I-10 through the southern half of the country. There are endless things to do along the way, and sites to see. How will you decide? This is where planning your cross country travel comes in. Of course you want to allow room for unplanned activities or events if on a time restriction, this is supposed to be a vacation too, a time for leisure. How many times have you been on vacation and tried to cram every last tourist destination within the allotted time, and find yourself exhausted from your hard-earned vacation when you got home?

Now, sit back and enjoy your trip! Take your digital camera and your sneakers, and put your feet up, enjoy the view! Leave your real world behind for a while and take it all in. Don't just dream about it, do it! How many times have your heard someone say they wish they had traveled more or taken a trip of a lifetime? Some people enjoy this type of lifestyle full time. They have a mobile home that they live in while they travel, and enjoy the freedom afforded by this combined mode of transportation and lodging. A variety of campers and RVs can be rented for the time period needed, to more fully meet travel needs without making a large expenditure to buy your own. Whatever type of cross-country travel experience you embark upon will be one you will never forget!
