As a travel enthusiast, I have dreamed of having the opportunity to travel Europe. Europe offers travelers several advantages that cannot be matched elsewhere in the world. There are few places in the world where a tourist can see so many countries and landmarks as are available if you travel Europe. Europe is rich in history and culture, much of which becomes evident even to the backpacker who only has a few days in each country. However, the cultures you will find if you travel Europe, while distinct in each country are not exceedingly different from North America making it easier to quickly adapt to them. This can prove to be a huge advantage for shorter stays. Another benefit you will find when you travel Europe is the ease of transportation. The extensive network of trains makes getting from one country to the next a relatively easy and inexpensive task. Additionally, there are numerous low cost airlines that will make it even easier to get around the entire continent when you travel Europe.
There are, however, some warnings that need to be considered by the average traveler. Due to the high number of tourists that travel Europe each year, there is a very real risk of theft. As a general rule, pick pockets are attracted to tourists, so you should make a conscious effort to keep your valuables well hidden. Unlike other areas of the world that are less developed, the costs to travel Europe can be extremely high. Even simple items like a bottle of water can shock you when you see the price tag. This obstacle can be overcome with careful planning of where to stay and how to get around. Finally, a common difficulty found by people who travel Europe is stress. Many travelers will try to do too much in too little time. Despite these challenges, the draw to travel Europe is (and rightfully so) as strong as ever. For the most part, it is easy to get around and the attractions it offers are unparalleled.
